Multiuser MIMO (MU-MIMO) is a MIMO technology which can utilize users as a virtual antenna element. There are two different approaches which are Downlink MU-MIMO and Uplink MU-MIMO schemes. For both downlink and uplink MU-MIMO schemes, signal processing for interference cancellation is required to achieve high throughput performance.

For example, if the zero-forcing algorithm is applied the received signal can be modeled as

 \mathbf{r}_i = \mathbf{w}_\text{zf}^T \mathbf{h} s_i + \mathbf{w}^T \mathbf{n}

where \mathbf{w} is the zeroforcing beamforming vector.
